Bio

BACKGROUND

Izzie Stevens is an intern working under Dr. Miranda Bailey at Seattle
Grace hospital. She is a former lingerie model and has the
distinction of being the only of her set of interns to be entirely
debt-free post medical school. She grew up poor in a small town whose
economy was driven by a large factory. She lived with her mother in a
trailer and got pregnant at age sixteen. She later gave up the child,
Hannah, for adoption. She and her mother are now estranged.

In order to fund her college and med school educations, Izzie became a
lingerie model and found success with the "Bethany Whisper" campaign.
However, rather than pursue a career in modeling, she decided to go on
and continue through university and later medical school. Since
arriving at Seattle Grace, she has shown a proclivity with pediatrics
and obstetrics and Dr. Addison Shepherd has worked with her several
times, most notably on the quintuplets case (Much Too Much/Owner Of A
Lonely Heart).

She had a brief relationship with her coworker Alex Karev after ending
a previous longer-term relationship with a hockey player. While the
latter relationship dissolved due to lack of together time, the former
imploded due to actions on Karev's part. Izzie's righteous anger
nearly prevented friendship, but now the two are civil to one another.

She currently lives with Meredith and George, fellow interns in her
program.

She enters The PPTH Portal after episode 3x12: Six Days Pt. 2.

PERSONALITY

Izzie Stevens, on first glance, is a bubbly and perky blonde. She's
the type of girl who doesn't really need coffee in the morning to get
herself going. If she were to take a Myers-Briggs personality
assessment, she would be a textbook ESFJ: the prototype for a helper.
She's extraverted, trusts her feelings and isn't quick to judge. She
gets along well with everyone, including those who are notoriously
difficult to get along with such as her fellow intern Alex Karev,
giving him a chance even after he'd insulted her and then later giving
him another shot after he'd initiated and then cheated on her in a
short relationship.(See 1.04: No Man's Land, 2.03: Make Me Lose
Control and 2.04: Deny, Deny, Deny.) That's not to say that she
doesn't get angry, even she lost her patience with Alex after the
cheating incident, but she was willing to forgive him and even help
him study for his medical boards.( see 2.12: Grandma Got Run Over By A
Reindeer.)

Both Izzie's greatest strength and weakness lie in her intense
attachment to friends and patients. She is fiercely loyal and
determined to do right by her patients and her friends. This loyalty
is best displayed in season two where she is assigned by Addison
Shepherd to care for one of five critically ill and premature infants,
a task that requires her to work nonstop for over thirty hours. She
does this without complaint and devotes herself completely to the
task: proof positive that while she is beautiful, she is unafraid to
work hard even when the situation at hand is hopeless. (See 2.10-2.11:
